Complex systems have multiple interacting components whose collective behavior cannot be simply inferred from the behavior of components. The recognition that understanding the parts cannot explain collective behavior has led to various new concepts and methodologies that are affecting all fields of science and engineering, and are being applied to technology, business and even social policy.
The Society for Organizational Learning (SoL), is an intentional learning community composed of organizations, individuals, and local SoL communities around the world. It was created to connect corporations and organizations, researchers and consultants to generate knowledge about and capacity for fundamental innovation and change by engaging in collaborative action inquiry projects.
While bringing together "specialists", the society's goal is more than simple collaboration — it strives to develop the researcher, capacity builder and practitioner in each of us. As an action learning community, SoL generates real business and social system results, new intellectual capital and on-going personal and professional networks.
